If you’re looking to detox your body, to get the most out of the detox diet, you should consider making positive changes for your mind, body and spirit. Good health depends on a good balance between your physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health. If one element is lacking then it has a knock-on effect on the others and your body is not in harmony.
Exercise
There are numerous good reasons to get active:
- Faster fat loss.
- Increased metabolism.
- Greater sense of well-being.
- Higher sense of self-esteem.
- Reduced stress.
- More efficient removal of toxins
- Better functioning of digestive system (including the bowel).
- Stronger bones.
- Healthier-looking skin and hair.
Most experts recommend thirty minutes of gentle or moderate exercise five days a week (or twenty minutes of hard exercise three times a week) but on the detox program you should listen to your body and do what you can manage, particularly if you have not done any formal exercise for a while.
Little and often is better than a couple of hard sessions a month. It’s important that you enjoy your chosen activities and don’t regard them as a chore. You need to be able to fit them easily into your daily routine otherwise you simply won’t keep them up. Try Pilates, yoga, walking, stretching and swimming on the detox program. You can add other activities as you become accustomed to regular exercise.
